There is only one species of Cockatiel, the smallest kind of Cockatoo that lives in Australia. They are very popular pets because of their friendly personalities.
They are not endangered, and live in large flocks that roam most of the dry open regions of Australia.
The males have plain tails, but the females and juveniles have a distinct barred pattern on the underside of their tail feathers.
We have a lot of Cockatiels because they breed successfully at the Aviary. We are also occasionally given birds to look after.
