Java Sparrows are also know as Java Finches. They live on some of the Indonesian islands, including Java and Bali, mainly in farmland.
They are gregarious, eating mainly grass seeds, but are a serious pest in Rice fields.
We were given a pair of these birds in the Autumn of 2013. They have been kept as cage birds for centuries, particularly in China and Japan.
There is very little difference between the male and female birds.
