Village Weaver Bird
There are many different species of Weaver Birds, most of which live in Sub-Sahara Africa. The were given their name because the males make very distinctive woven nests.
They are not endangered. The male birds of most species are highly coloured.
We have Weaver Birds of several different species. They are small birds who mostly get on with other species, so we keep them in the small bird enclosure.
Their nests have narrow downward-facing entrances that are not attractive to other species, although the males will defend their nest against other Weavers.
